Wednesday afternoon at 12:20 PM The Hope Valley and Carolina Fire Departments were dispatched to 337 Church St. within sight of Station 2 (Alton) for a reported house fire. With multiple 911 calls received confirming the fire, Car 901 (District Chief Lee) requested a full response out of Ashaway and a Tanker from Charlestown and Dunns Corners. Engine 914 was the first due engine, and reported a working structure fire with smoke and fire from the Charley side of the residence. A single attack line was stretched to the interior holding the fire from extending to the first floor. Firefighters pulled two kittens out while preforming searches, one kitten was able to be resuscitated using our animal cpr kit the other succumbed to the smoke. No one was home at the time of the fire which remains under investigation. Firefighters remained on scene until 6 PM assisting the Fire Marshal.
